Advantages of Felt Discs

Precision Polishing & High-Quality Finish

Felt discs deliver ultra-smooth, mirror-like surfaces on metals, glass, ceramics, and non-ferrous materials, making them ideal for decorative or precision finishing applications.

Flexible & Conformable Design

The dense, soft structure easily adapts to curves, edges, and intricate shapes, ensuring even contact with the workpiece and consistent, professional results.

Gentle Yet Effective Surface Treatment

Removes minor scratches, oxidation, and burrs without aggressive material removal, protecting delicate surfaces while enhancing overall appearance.

Versatile, Durable, and Compound-Compatible

Works with diamond paste, aluminum oxide, or other polishing compounds; suitable for hand or machine use, water-resistant, and maintains performance over repeated polishing tasks.

Felt

Abrasives

Felt is a soft, dense material widely used as an abrasive medium in polishing, buffing, and finishing applications. Its unique structure allows it to conform to complex shapes, edges, and contours, making it ideal for achieving uniform contact across the workpiece. Felt is often used in combination with polishing compounds, diamond pastes, or aluminum oxide to enhance its cutting and finishing efficiency, providing smooth, high-quality surfaces.

Type: T27 vs. T29

Flap discs come in different shapes, with Type 27 and Type 29 being the most common. Each has its advantages depending on the application.

Type 27 (Flat Flap Disc)

Ideal for smooth finishing, blending, and grinding flat surfaces. It provides even contact with the workpiece, ensuring precise and controlled grinding. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use this disc at a low grinding angle of 0-15°.

Type 29 (Conical Flap Disc)

Best for heavy stock removal, beveling, and working on curved or uneven surfaces. Its sloped design allows for more aggressive cutting with a larger contact area, ensuring efficient material removal. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use this disc at a steeper grinding angle of 15-30°.
